In a player-controlled poll, Lansing Lightning’s #19 Mehki’yan McRina was voted as the inaugural PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

We sat down with Mehki’yan, best known by his teammates as Lil Bama, to get to know him a little better while celebrating his contributions to the team.

Where did you start playing football? Did you play in high school or anywhere else before the Lansing Lightning such as college or another semi pro team?

I didn’t play high school ball because I was online. I played little league for the Kappa Express.

What drove you to start playing football?

My cousin Marshawn Beard and my daughter Jahnylah. I think about my cousin Marshawn and my daughter, and I tell myself I do it for them before I accept any excuses out of myself.

Tell your favorite moment of your football career so far?

My favorite football moment was playing with my brother in the same game and the best moment of my career was playing for a national championship in Ohio.

More About Mehki’yan: He is brand new to minor league football. In his short time with the team, Mehki’yan has proven to be invaluable asset. In our June 11, 2022, 35-0 win over the Calvary Knights, he walked away with 1 touchdown 5 sacks and 4 tackles. We look forward to hearing more about Mehki’yan in the years to come!

The Lansing Lightning host the West Michigan Chaos this Saturday, June 18th at Mac Gobel Field located at 1149 S. Cochran Ave., Charlotte, Michigan 48813.
