In a player-controlled poll, Lansing Lightning’s #88 Joshua Cole was voted as the PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
What made you want to play semi pro football?
Honestly, I only played one year of football in high school then had the opportunity to walk on for Eastern Michigan. I ended up having a stroke right before hand and left school.
From there I went into a deep depression and needed something to pull me out. Thankfully my mother knew my teammate Eric Verville and I came out and never looked back. I’d like to get back to my talent in the past and hope to continue further with football.
What’s your favorite moment of your career so far?
Winning the championship my first year in semi pro and getting to go back home to Florida with my team, getting to see my baby brothers grave and leaving a football with all my teammates signatures after the national championship we played in. Kicking that extra point to seal the game the past weekend is a new favorite as well now I suppose!
Tell is your long-term football goal.
To get back to peak health and have a chance at a bigger league. I’d like to have a chance at coaching kids in kicking in the future as well.
How do you prepare mentally for big games such as next week against the Wolves?
Visualize splitting uprights and attacking the plays correctly. Listen to music and enjoy the drive with the windows down. Warm up and tweak all that’s needed, and connect with my brothers on the team so we’re all in sync to get the win. | THIS is for YOU!
