Kirby’s first 3D adventure, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, is set for release on Nintendo Switch, March 25, 2022. Based on its trailers and previews this could turn out to be the vacuum-mouthed puffball’s best game yet.
The early days of Kirby were a series of simple, cute games that were fun for the whole family. His 1993 NES debut Kirby’s Adventure through 2010’s Kirby’s Epic Yarn on Wii more than satisfied his established niche fan base but didn’t attract hardcore gamers.
That changed with the complex and upgrade-heavy Kirby’s Return to Dreamland (Wii, 2011) and its follow-ups Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS, 2014), Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS, 2014), Kirby Battle Royal (3DS, 2018), Kirby Star Allies (Switch, 2018), and Kirby Fighters 2 (Switch, 2020).
With Forgotten Land on the horizon, we decided to name 10 things we like about Kirby’s upcoming adventure!
One, it’s a 3D Kirby game! Millions have waited a long time for this.
Two, the world’s look gigantic! Exploration is certain to be a thrill.
Three, getting to use Kirby’s inhale-and-capture ability in an open world! There’s sure to be some cool setting and environments to uniquely use them in.
Four, the option to purchase upgrades for your attacks!
Five, finding out what upgraded attacks look like and can do! Kirby’s appearance also changes with these upgrades.
Six, discovering all of Kirby’s new and more powerful evolved ability forms!
Seven, Mouthful Mode! Kirby can inhale a motor vehicle and drive around. Very cool.
Eight, the mysterious location and story! We don’t know where Kirby is, why he’s there, and how this story will play out.
Nine, playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the OLED’s bigger, brighter screen!
And 10, playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land on a 70” television! A sizable adventure begs to be played on the biggest screen you have. If this game is as visually appealing as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Marion Odyssey, prepare spend a lot of time sightseeing and screenshotting! |THIS ENT
