In 1996 and 1997, I had a chance to meet 3 dynamic fellow officers when I was stationed at Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, N.C.: Veronica, Tanjela, and Michelle.
I didn’t know it then, but each of them would go on to shape my life in ways I never could have imagined.
In 1997, Tanjela, a doctor, would challenge me to further my education which resulted in me leaving the military to go to law school.
In 2001, Michelle, also a doctor, would go on to provide medical training to me when I was learning my new job as a disability lawyer.
In 2002 and 2003, Veronica, a nurse, would serve as my wedding coordinator.
And their support never stopped.
Tanjela and Michelle still give me medical insight while Veronica, a recently retired Naval Captain, still gives me advice about leadership.
I’m not sure what power they will share tomorrow, but I’m glad they are here today. |THIS.
