We’ll remember 2021 as a year of triumphs and tragedies, wins and losses, and unifying optimism and aggravated division. In THIS INTERVIEW we revisit the last 12 months from the perspective of writer, actress, and content creator Keisha Crawford.
The co-founder of Laugh Out Loud Solutions, Crawford uses comedy to help viewers deal with and resolve tumultuous challenges in their lives. An engaging writer, her thought-provoking feature articles for THISENT have made people laugh, cry, and reevaluate their choices and situations.
Crawford shared some of her thoughts with us by answering THIS questionnaire about her life in 2021 and what to expect from her in 2022.
How would you summarize 2021?
It’s been like taking a cruise on troubled waters. I appreciated the down time, time to relax, have fun and enjoy life. But those waves tossed me around and caused some damage while cruising.
Did you read anything inspiring or influential that you would recommend to others?
Yep, DMX’s bio. He was a true testament to no matter what you struggle with, you can still be effective in reaching and inspiring others. And that makes you much more relatable.
What was the best song of the year?
Aww man, this is probably the hardest question for me because I love a variety of music and it’s hard to pick just one. And it depends on what kind of mood you catch me in.
But, since I’m in a mellow mood right now, I will say that I love what Bruno Mars is doing for R&B and I love his music. So, I’ll say Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open”.
What were the movies or television shows that you couldn’t stop watching?
I don’t watch much TV nowadays, but anytime I do I look for the old school sitcoms; Sanford and Son, Living Single, The Wayans Bros., Martin, The Steve Harvey Show, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And I could binge on Nick Cannon’s show Wild-N-Out all day!
Who or what entertained you the most?
Spice Adams and Affion Crockett on Instagram.
What was your favorite social media post – by you or someone you follow?
My favorite post was me posing in front of a cornfield in Illinois while wearing a shirt that said “Warning: Fart Zone. Enter At Your Own Risk.” Get it, corn produces gas and so do I. Clever, I know! [Laughs]
Tell us the most surprising thing you heard or saw all year.
That Snuffleupagus eyelashes are actually a thing! Go figure.
How did you evolve over the last 12 months?
I am honing my communication skills and becoming very comfortable saying what’s really on my mind.
In what way has the pandemic affected your outlook on life?
It’s further validated that we don’t have time to waste. Also, this is a time to create; no holds barred. Stick out like a sore thumb. It is ok.
Which of your blessings would you say was the biggest?
Waking up.
Did you experience a defining moment?
Yeah, self-destruction is a real thing and I’m my biggest roadblock sometimes. I realize it’s a mental game of “I know I can” vs “No you can’t, you big dummy.”
I have to constantly water and pour into myself daily. I use my urine as an indicator for my hydration status because the physical affects the mental and vice versa. I know if my urine is dark and cloudy, I need to water myself some more to help my body eliminate the waste; the waste in my urine and the toxic way of thinking.
And I know if my urine is clear, straw yellow, my hydration status is great, which means I can also think more clearly and more positively.
What can we expect from you in 2022?
Shoot, I don’t know. I’m a creative freestyler and very random. Sometimes I do things that I didn’t even see coming. Just expect Keisha to Keisha! |THIS ENT
