How would you summarize 2023?

Looking back, 2023 was a year that pushed me to my limits and fueled my personal growth. It was a rollercoaster of challenges and triumphs that ultimately shaped me into a stronger and more resilient person. Did I learn from it? Yes. Would I want to do it again? Probably not.

Tell us how you evolved over the last 12 months.

Over the year, I embarked on a profound journey of self-discovery and growth. I learned to embrace the unchangeable and redirect my energy towards personal development. It was a transformative period where I truly came into my own.

Were you able to achieve the goals you set?

I am still in the process of pursuing my dreams, though I have made some significant strides toward my goals this year. Life throws curveballs, but I firmly believe that progress is measured by the steps we take forward, not the obstacles we face along the way.

Did you face any challenges that turned out to be blessings?

Absolutely. In the face of profound and deeply personal challenges, I initially struggled to find meaning in the adversity. However, through the process of loss and hardship, I gained a newfound appreciation for the things that truly matter in life. These challenges became catalysts for personal growth and gratitude.

Who was there for you when you needed them most?

My support system, my tribe, and my closest circle of friends were an unwavering source of strength and support during my darkest moments. In 2023, I consciously decided to break free from my tendency to shoulder burdens alone and let someone in. It was a transformative shift that allowed me to navigate difficulties more effectively than ever before.

In what ways were you reminded that you’re valuable?

Waiting for others to recognize our worth often leads to disappointment and frustration. Instead, I took the initiative to lead by example by acknowledging my own value. It was through this self-affirmation that I witnessed others recognizing and appreciating my worth as well.

How did you celebrate your birthday?

For my special day, my husband took me on a surprise vacation to the breathtaking Canary Islands. It was an enchanting experience filled with memorable moments. It was also my first time celebrating Carnaval in Spain.

Which songs were the soundtrack of your life in 2023?

One song that resonated deeply with me in 2023 was “What Was I Made for” by the incredibly talented Billie Eilish. What begins as a contemplation of self-worth and purpose, gradually evolves into a message of hope and optimism. It’s so hauntingly beautiful and spoke directly to my heart. This song perfectly captured the essence of my transformative journey this year.

What was the best movie you saw, TV show you watched, and live event you attended?

As the year is not yet over, I am still eagerly awaiting the release of the highly anticipated Color Purple musical, which I hope will be the best film of the year. In terms of TV shows, The Chosen. Am I biased? Absolutely. As for live events, the Stadium of Fire show in Provo, Utah, was incredible. Everything about the show was mind-blowing, but the real highlight was seeing Journey perform live.

Did you read or hear anything inspiring or influential that you would recommend to others?

One quote that deeply resonated with me and that I highly recommend to others is, “You’re not ‘lucky.’ You are good at what you do. Opportunities did not just fall into your lap. You worked hard for them.” It’s a reminder that our achievements are a result of our dedication and perseverance, not mere chance.

Tell us something you did to help someone in need, whether you knew them or not.

While I prefer to keep my acts of kindness private, I can share something I’ve learned about being present for someone in need. Sometimes, simply being there and offering an empathetic ear can provide the support and solace needed for others to heal and find strength in their own journey.

What can we expect from you in 2024?

While I cannot predict what the future will bring for me personally, I hope that peace is at the top of that list. I’m also excited about being a part of some inspiring projects. | By Mr. Joe Walker
