Gang life could have been the end of RedCloud. However, a chance visit to church changed him, allowing him to witness fellow gangsters praise God.

His passion for beats, rhymes, and the blessing of his life led him to the recording studio. Time and time again RedCloud found himself there putting his testimony down with lyrical excellence.

In 2007 his ‘hood inspired him to pen this Syntax Records’ classic, the LA native’s 3rd LP Hawthorne’s Most Wanted.

To whoever was unaware of his microphone prowess, RedCloud advised “The Time Has Come” to recognize just how dope he was. On this track he doubled and tripled rhyming words amidst multiple-syllable patterns throughout this laidback groove. He flexes similarly on the bouncy G-funk jam “Welcome All”.

RedCloud also snaps quick and crisp on the boom-bap cleverness of “The Boombox Saints”.

On the neck-snapping title track, RedCloud and Dogg Pound icon Kurupt let it be known how real it is on the west coast.

RedCloud is truly masterful on this LP. This is not an album to be cast off after a single listen. It’s brilliantly deep (“My People”), intricate in its storytelling (“405”), thought-provoking (“Death of a Salesman”), and heavily inspired (“Boulevard Knights”), bursting with vivid wordplay and wholehearted, faithful encouragement. | THIS ENT
