When we look back on 2022, we’ll remember a year that challenged our resourcefulness, emotions, unity, and finances. In the face of these obstacles, we learned the infinite value of togetherness. In THIS INTERVIEW we revisit the last 12 months from the perspective of Hip Hop artist Thee Gift.

A native of Detroit, MI, Thee Gift is adamant about using his writing and performing talents to spread God’s message. Decked in all black like iconic group NWA, the anointed MC combines the word with the power of street knowledge to witness to spiritually in-need neighborhoods. This mission is felt both sincerely and emphatically on his anthem “IMA HIT YO BLOCK”.

Thee Gift took time out of their busy schedule to share some of his thoughts with us, answering THIS questionnaire about his life in 2022 and what to expect from them in 2023. THIS is for YOU!

How would you summarize 2022?

I would say [last] year [was] a year of reflection, as far as focusing more on my music career and ministry.

What was the best song, album, television show, movie, and podcast of last year?

It’s crazy. Me and my wife went to see Top Gun Maverick with Tom Cruise. We enjoyed that. I have not listened to any albums or seen any television shows. I mainly watch short videos on YouTube. And best podcast? I would say Oshay Duke Jackson.

Did you read anything inspiring or influential that you would recommend to others?

I recommend the book Think and Grow Rich. The book has a lot of nuggets to help someone to become a wealth builder.

What’s something you did to help someone in need, whether you knew them or not?

It’s a young guy I know who was doing rough financially. I’ve helped him out in the past, and I’ve continued to give him guidance, here and there, when I can.

Recall for us the most surprising thing you heard all year.

I had been let go in error from my job at Amazon due to a technicality in the system. They just recently rehired me, and gave me backpay. I learned how grateful it is to have steady income coming in.

Why is it important to live every moment of your life to the fullest?

People are leaving here younger and younger, [so] it’s a blessing to have life. In these days you never know when it may be your time, so that’s why I live every moment now to the fullest.

Were you able to achieve the goals you set?

Yes. I was able to record a new song called “IMA Hit Yo Block”. It’s an evangelistic track to the neighborhood. I was also able to record the video to the song also, which was two of my biggest goals.

Which of your blessings would you say was the biggest?

Just being able to be healthy, having a roof over my head, make a decent living to better incomes. I’m also blessed to have a beautiful wife and family, which is my support system.

Tell us how you evolved over the last 12 months.

I have evolved more as a man, if anything; just the maturity level, and being more responsible. Since I’ve gotten older, just becoming more accountable and becoming more of a leader.

Did you experience a defining moment?

Yes, I have experienced a defining moment, which is currently looking to move in a new house and to have children. I’m motivated right now!

What can we expect from you in 2023?

I’m looking forward to being extremely fruitful, from ministry to a prosperous music career. | THIS ENT
